    Operation control is the process that the qualified certificate holders use the system and procedures for flight control, to control the start, duration and termination of a flight, including the flight before the preparation, flight dispatch release, full flight monitoring, etc. To implementing operational control on airlines ensures that the company plans to complete the scheduled flight and ensure flight safety with high efficiency and low cost, and it can effectively fulfill the rules and regulations in the operations manual CAAC and airline.
    This book is based on CCAR-121, combined with multiple regulations related to civil aviation and the actual operating procedures of airline, referring to editor’s theory and practice teaching experience of flight dispatch.
    This book is based on the operation control and working procedures of the airline, and referring to the operation manual and operating rules of the airlines, which also discusses the problems involved in the operation of the airlines.
    This book was edited by Luo Feng’e and Li Lisha on AUG 2014, and revised on DEC 2017 according to new regulation “Airline Transport Pilot License Written Test Ability Requirement” (DOC NO.FS-ATSR-004AR1) and other requirements.
    This book is divided into six chapters: In the first chapter, the history of airlines and dispatch, the structure of airline and regulation and airline manuals are introduced. The second chapter introduces the management requirements of the airlines to the crew members, including the qualification requirements, training requirements, health management and time limit for the crew members. The third chapter explains the four operation procedure of airlines, including preliminary preparation, direct flight preparation, flight implementation and post-flight debriefing. The fourth chapter describes the dispatch release provisions under different operating dispatch release, the operation of minimum standards, alternate airport selection requirements and fuel policy. In the fifth chapter, the book introduces the requirements of flight monitoring and the communication means and procedures of flight control. In the sixth chapter, it mainly introduces the definition and requirements of special airport operation, PBN operation, RVSM, CATⅡ ILS operation, ETOPS, and extended over-water operation. This book has covered the ATPL related testing points.
    This book was written all in English. Civil Aviation Flight University of China is the most important pilots training institution in China. It is our responsibility to make the teaching and training on an international standard. We hope this book will help the students get a broader and better understanding of airline operation. We also hope it will encourage the students to explore in flight dispatch field not only in Chinese but also in English so as to get prior opportunity in the international competition. It will be used to teach pilots professional knowledge and practical operation skills in English for the first time in China. Writers’ found experience is limited, if any errors in this book, welcome readers’ comments.
